What is a dry ridge system?
A dry ridge system replaces the traditional mortar that beds ridge tiles at the apex of a pitched roof. Instead of mortar, the ridge tiles are secured using a mechanical fixing system - typically a batten, clip and roll arrangement - that holds the tiles firmly in place without the need for any mortar at all. The result is a ridge that doesn't crack, doesn't need re-pointing and lets the roof breathe properly.
What is a dry verge system?
A dry verge system covers the exposed edge of the roof at the gable ends using interlocking plastic or GRP units that clip over the tiles and bargeboard. Traditional mortar verges crack and fall away over time, allowing water to get behind the tiles at the edge. Dry verge units are locked in place mechanically and won't deteriorate in the same way.
How long do dry ridge and dry verge systems last?
