Flat Roofing Materials We Work With
Felt Roofing
A cost-effective, well-proven covering for smaller roofs, garages and outbuildings, installed in layers for a durable finish.
GRP Fibreglass
A seamless, glass-reinforced covering that's tough, long-lasting and works well on roofs with awkward shapes, upstands and roof lights.
Rubber (EPDM)
A single-piece rubber membrane that's flexible, durable and suits both domestic extensions and larger commercial roofs.
Extensions & Dormers
New flat roof coverings for single-storey extensions, dormer windows and bay roof sections.
Garages & Outbuildings
Replacement flat roof coverings for garages, sheds and workshops where the existing felt has failed.
Commercial Flat Roofs
Larger flat roof installations and repairs for warehouses, shops and other commercial premises.
Most of the flat roof jobs we're called out to in Dudley are extensions and garages with old felt coverings that have started to blister, crack or pond water - usually because the original roof didn't have enough fall to drain properly.

Sorting Out Standing Water
One of the most common causes of flat roof leaks is poor drainage - a roof laid dead flat, or with falls that have settled over time, will hold water after rain instead of shedding it. When we replace a flat roof we make sure the new covering has the correct fall built in, so water runs off towards the gutter or outlet rather than sitting on the roof.

Flat roof costs depend heavily on size, access and the material chosen - felt is usually the most affordable option, with GRP and rubber costing more but lasting longer. A typical garage or small extension flat roof might range from around £800 to £3,000, with larger roofs costing more. Every quote is free and based on a site visit.

What's the best material for a flat roof?
It depends on the size, budget and how the roof is used. GRP (fibreglass) and single-ply rubber are both durable, long-lasting options that have largely replaced traditional felt on new work, though felt is still a cost-effective choice for some smaller roofs. We'll talk through the options for your specific roof and recommend what suits it best.
How long does a flat roof last?
A well-installed GRP or rubber flat roof can last 20-30 years with minimal maintenance. Traditional felt roofs tend to need attention or replacement sooner, often within 10-15 years, particularly if they weren't installed with enough falls to shed water properly.
My flat roof keeps getting puddles of water on it - is that normal?
A small amount of standing water after rain is common on flat roofs, but if it's still there a couple of days later, that's usually a sign the roof doesn't have enough fall (slope) to drain properly. Over time this can lead to leaks, so it's worth getting it checked.
Can you replace just part of my flat roof?
In some cases, yes, particularly with felt roofs where a section has failed. However, flat roofs work best as a single continuous covering, so for GRP and rubber roofs we'd usually recommend recovering the whole roof area to avoid future leaks at the joins.
